A Well Travelled Shawarma Eater...
Wherever i have traveled i have searched out places that sell shawarma and have enjoyed the many subtle differences and sometimes really different styles and or Adaptations of the Great Shawarma...
I used to think that these Gulf returnees are all crazy.. raving and ranting about shawarma. How Tasty it is, how filling it is, how cheap it is, how it's a anywhere anytime snack and how also having 2 or 3 together can suffice as a meal when the cash is strapped.
One Fine day i happened to see a shawarma joint at a roadside cafe around my snack time , so lets check out what the fuss is all about and i had one.. In mumbai it was around Rs. 60/- (USD 1.25) and it turned out to be fantastic, the chicken was crisply cooked and tender at the same time with its juices and all the salad veg that was added and packed conveniently in a roll was to good to be true and i was instantly hooked...
Mumbai , Delhi , Pune , Nagpur ,All over Kerala and other places i have had the pleasure of shawarma and i will be writing about all the places.

What is Shawarma?
Shawarma (Arabic: شاورما), is a Middle Eastern and Southeastern European sandwich-like wrap of shaved lamb, goat, chicken, turkey, beef, or a halal mixture of meats. The meat is placed on a spit, and may be grilled for as long as a day. Chunks of fat within the meat ensure that the shawarma stays juicy. Shawarma is a fast-food staple across the Middle East and North Africa.
Shawarma is eaten with pita bread, tabouli, fattoush, taboon bread, tomato and cucumber. Toppings include tahini, hummus, pickled turnips and amba.
Shawarma is a version of döner kebab and is thus similar to gyros.
The word shawarma (pronounced /ˈʃwɑrmə/) comes from the Turkish word çevirme [tʃevirˈme], meaning turning.
